Have you connected with any Shiba owners in this area? I'm beginning process for getting a Shiba -- breeders, rescues. I've spotted only two or three Shibas locally.

No, I know that there are some around because my vet tells me there are, and I have seen several dogs that are definitely Shiba mixes but have not seen any except mine. I am seriously considering getting a puppy also, and have yet to find a breeder in the area.
That photo looks like our place - we had a red shiba and still have a cream. The male died in June, I am heartbroken still. But they sure took over the bed!
