Stupid Cat
The Woman recently found out that two of the most common reasons for emergency trips to the vet are:
1. Mishaps during the clipping of a dog's nails (Shiba's not excluded)
2. Mishaps while attempting to groom your animal at home using a brush, a pair of scissors and praying that the animal remain docile while you are watching a movie.
At the precise moment that The Woman decided to clip a large snarl of fur, Filou decided to roll over on her belly and ask for a rub. This resulted in nicking the skin and much to The Woman's surprise and aghast, her skin unzipped as easily as a nice fitting pair of jeans.
So some emergency home remedies were used, but it was apparent that by the next morning, an emergency trip to the vet was required for stitches and a shaving. Filou is in fine shape and excellent spirits but Belle has been banned from playing with her in order to ensure that the wound heals properly. It's cute to watch Belle stamp her little feet when she does not get to go downstairs to play with her kitty.
That Guy pointed out that in June, July, August and September of this year, for one reason or another, we spent around $100 at the vet. Filou's bill? $97.00. That Guy says we should just automatically send $100 a month to the vet from now on because it's gonna happen one way or another.
Well, it was obviously Filou's turn to go.

this gives me the Fear. Scout badly needs some mats clipped and I have no money to take her to a groomer.
oy - the jean zip analogy - that's freaky!
grooming when scissors is involved is a two man job in our house for that reason. Hubby holds dog like a vet tech and I clip - fast. Esp when the fancy beagle has the dingleberries.
